The song One Day in Lhasa is the result of many years of struggle for justice and freedom for the Tibetan people. The aim of the song is to bring public awareness towards the Tibetan cause and to let the world know about the brutal oppression of the Chinese Government in Tibet. This song relates the story of more than a hundred thousand Tibetans who fled Tibet – and who still do today – following His Holiness the Dalai Lama in exile during the Chinese invasion in 1959. Tibetans fled across the hostile and majestic Himalayan mountains, risking their lives and therefore leaving their loved ones. Once arrived in India, they were received by the Indian government in camps for refugees. Many Tibetan children are sent to TCV (Tibetan Children’s Village School) in Dharamsala to receive a modern education and also to learn the Tibetan langage, its history and its culture which is currently being destroyed by the Chinese regime. One Day in Lhasa is a cry for help. After more than sixty years of oppression and genocide, the Tibetan people’s condition worsens day by day, leaving an entire population alone facing tyranny. The Tibetans’ scream of despair draws attention to the deafening silence of International Organizations and of Western Countries. This unbearable situation drives some Tibetans to the inconceivable, the suffering of self-immolation in order to alert the world, rather than imposing suffering on others. One Day In Lhasa will make you feel the tears, the sorrow and the distress of the Tibetan people, as well as their everlasting HOPE to go back to TIBET one day. La chanson ‚Un Jour à Lhassa‘ est le fruit de nombreuses années de combat pour le peuple tibétain. Elle a pour but de sensibiliser les pouvoirs publics à la cause tibétaine et de lever le voile sur l’oppression du gouvernement chinois au Tibet. Cette chanson relate l’histoire de centaine de milliers de tibétains qui fuirent le Tibet – et qui fuient encore aujourd’hui – à la suite de l’exil du Dalaï-Lama, à travers les chaines de l’Himalaya au péril de leur vie, lors de l’invasion chinoise en 1959. Une fois arrivés en Inde, ils furent recueillis par le gouvernement Indien dans des camps de réfugiés. Beaucoup d’enfants tibétains sont envoyés au TCV (Tibetan Children’s Village / Ecole pour enfants tibétains) à Dharamsala pour suivre une éducation tibétaine et espérer un jour s’en sortir. Ainsi fut l’histoire de ma grand-mère et de ma maman. Un Jour à Lhassa est un cri d’alarme. Après plus de soixante ans d’oppression et de génocide, la culture et la langue tibétaine n’a jamais autant été en danger. La condition des tibétains au Tibet ne fait qu’empirer, laissant un peuple entier seul face à l’oppression. Le silence des grandes organisations ainsi que des pays occidentaux laisse transparaitre les cris de désespoir des tibétains, allant jusqu’à l’auto-immolation dans le seul but d’alerter le monde. Un jour à Lhassa vous fera ressentir les pleurs, les chagrins, la détresse du peuple tibétain… ainsi que leur espoir de pouvoir retourner au Tibet un jour. Ces enfants et familles tibétaines exilées en Inde peuvent être parrainées par le biais de l’Association Tibétain.
