Meeting of the Tibet Parliamentary Group

The Tibet Parliamentary Group met on March 07th, 2022 on the margins of the current spring session of the parliament to discuss and define action plans for Tibet.

Co-President of the Tibet Parliamentary Group Nicholas Walder chaired the session together with Group Co-President Fabian Molina, Vice-President Maya Graf, Prisca Birrer-Heimo, Barbara Gysi, Isabelle Pasquier-Eichenberger and Regula Rytz.

Ms. Kalden Tsomo of the Tibet Bureau in Geneva, President of the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein Karma Choekyi, President and Vice-President of the Society for Swiss-Tibetan Friendship Thomas Büchli and Lhawang Ngorkhangsar also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Members of Parliament were briefed on the current human rights situation in Tibet, in particular the rapidly deteriorating situation in Kham Drakgo and the Chinese government's increasingly harsh crackdown on the cultural and religious expressions of the Tibetan people.

In addition, a wide range of issues were addressed, including the situation of undocumented Tibetan asylum seekers, the commemoration of the 63rd National Tibetan Remembrance Day of the Tibetan People's Uprising, and future action plans to stand up for Tibet at the political level.
