Report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the human rights situation in East Turkestan (Xinjiang)

On August 31.08.2022, XNUMX, the long overdue report by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the human rights situation in East Turkestan (Xinjiang) was published.

You can read the report here on English download.

Here find one German translation (DeepL version) of the report.

Human rights organizations are calling for the report to be officially presented to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva and the resulting consequences to be discussed.

The GSTF agrees with the appropriate words of Kai Müller (Managing Director of the International Campaign for Tibet Germany) on this delayed publication and the demands of the human rights organizations:

"Those responsible for the human rights abuses in East Turkestan must now be held accountable, and the actions of the Communist Party in Tibet, Hong Kong and Chinese human rights defenders must face consequences. Now at the latest, the UN Human Rights Council should follow the recommendations of its own human rights experts and appoint an independent special rapporteur to examine the situation in East Turkestan, Tibet and Hong Kong. The CCP's human rights atrocities can no longer be ignored, even though the High Commissioner's report was released late and under irritating circumstances."
