The Swiss Parliamentary Group Tibet met on March 7 on the sidelines of the spring session in the parliament building to discuss questions about Tibet and Tibetans.
The group's co-president, National Councilor Nicholas Walder, and the group's new member, National Councilor Natalie Imboden, were present on behalf of the parliamentary group. The Representative of HH the Dalai Lama, Geneva, Thinlay Chukki, the Deputy of the Tibetan Government in Exile, Thupten Gyatso, the President of the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Karma Choekyi, the President of the Society of Swiss-Tibetan Friendship, Thomas Büchli, and the Managing Director of the GSTF, Bettina Eckert, were also present.
During the meeting, PGT members were briefed on the situation in Tibet, particularly the forced assimilation of Tibetan children in Tibet under the guise of boarding schools, as well as the massive DNA collections across Tibet. Representative Thinlay Chukki personally thanked the parliamentarians for their clear statement on the UN press release.
